GenZ

·

Hi.

Happy New Year?

Sorry I have been so quiet, was overworked by all the school assignments.

But I just had to post something for January or else it would mean I forgot about my beloved blog.

So here is something I wrote for a segment a creative page did last year.

I did full make-up and rehearsals for their video.

Here’s what I said.

You know how little kids pick up words and dialogues they hear without even knowing it’s meaning like parrots? Well yeah, thats me! At a young age I heard many uncles and aunties saying “oof yeh generation hii kharab hai!” and so I made that line mine!

I am a citizen of GenZ.

So yes, yes I know that this “kharab generation” I keep on referring to is infact my generation but ab kya karu, what is the truth will remain the truth!

haan, yeh generation hii kharab hai,

Instagram, Facebook aur Snapchat ke bina inki duniya chalti kahan hai;

kher chhoti umar mey bachchon ko mobile phone khilone ki tarah pakdana normal sa ho gaya hai

yeh generation hii kharab hai.

not being ‘woke’ and talking about sexuality, rape, drug abuse and bullying has become a crime;

but for parents to sit at the dinning table, and talk about these sensitive topics, where is the time??

oh but yes, this generation? bohot hii karab hai!

also, what is this banter about mental health?

this depression, and anxiety are all modern diseases invented for and by these people with great wealth

but when will these kids understand?

chhodo, yeh generation hii kharab hai.

Oh, I almost forgot, humarey yahan sex talk bachchon ko dii hii nahi jaati hai;

par jo teen pregnancy ka case bana, toh gossip mey ladki ki parvarish aur ladke ki niyat kharab ho jaati hai.

par haan humari generation hii kharab hai.

Okay uncle, yes aunty

WE GET IT.

I see what you are talking about.

I mean just look at the number of adolescent suicide cases being reported. There’s rape, bullying, body shaming and don’t even get me started on us ruining our own environment.

We have become ungrateful, mean and inhumane.

I see it too but rather than reminding us of the big failure we are gradually becoming, remind us how to be better.

Talk to us, listen to our voices, don’t just preach, start a conversation.

Oh, but where do we start?

Wait, what is that stereotypical norm we have all been taught, even your generation?

Ahh yes,

Hold the door, pull the chair, pay the bill- be a man.

Cross your legs, sit up straight, don’t go there, that street is shady- act like a lady.

Perhaps now is the time to change that?

So next time, teach both your sons and your daughters what a sanitary napkin is, tell them both that it is okay to feel; cry, scream and even jump up high.

Start a conversation and trust me you shall see,

We are all capable of good things,

Yes, yes I am talking about your kharab genZ.
